Devotion

Having thus acquired the rare gift of Devotion the sage prepared a funeral pile and discarding all attachment from his heart ascended it.

Everything is indeed Brahman, as declared in the Upanishads. May I never deny Brahman. May Brahman never deny me. May there never be any denial from my side. May all the virtues mentioned in the Upanishads be mine, I who am devoted to the Self.

Bhakti is the path to salvation. Souls achieve salvation through God's grace.

You have been born in this world as a human being to worship God, so try to cultivate love for his divine presence.

The yogi who, having attained unity, worships me dwelling in all beings, remains in me, regardless of his way of life.

To one who has supreme devotion to God, and the same devotion to the guru as to God — to that great soul the meanings here declared shine forth.

Fix your mind on Me; be My devotee; worship Me; bow to Me — you shall come to Me, I promise you truly, for you are dear to Me.

In whatever way they approach Me, I respond to them in exactly that way. Human beings everywhere follow My path, O Partha.

That very same ancient yoga has now been declared to you by Me today, for you are My devotee and My friend — this indeed is the supreme secret.

With your mind surrendering all actions to Me, intent on Me as the highest, taking refuge in the yoga of understanding — let your consciousness always dwell in Me.

By devotion alone one truly knows Me — how great I am and what I truly am; and having thus known Me in truth, one enters into Me without delay.

One who has become Brahman, with a serene self, neither grieves nor craves; equal to all beings, that person attains supreme devotion to Me.

But those who follow this deathless teaching of dharma as I have declared it, with faith, holding me as supreme — those devotees are exceedingly dear to me.

Fix your mind on me alone; let your understanding dwell in me. You shall live in me hereafter — of this there is no doubt.

For those whose minds are absorbed in me, I swiftly become their deliverer from the ocean of death and rebirth, O Partha.

The Blessed Lord said: Those who, fixing their minds on me, worship me, ever steadfast and endowed with the highest faith — I regard these as the most perfectly yoked in yoga.

One who acts for my sake, who holds me as supreme, who is devoted to me, free from attachment, and bearing no enmity toward any being — that person comes to me, O son of Pandu.

But through undivided devotion, O Arjuna, I can be known in truth, seen in this way, and even entered into, O scorcher of foes.

Keep your mind fixed on Me, be My devotee, be My worshipper, bow down to Me — yoked thus, with Me as the supreme goal, you shall come to Me.

Whoever offers Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water — that offering of love from the pure-hearted one, I accept and receive.
