Devotee

Bhakti is the path to salvation. Souls achieve salvation through God's grace.

A true devotee says, 'O God, you alone are the doer; you alone do everything.

Among all human beings there is none who does Me a dearer service than such a one; nor shall there ever be another on earth more beloved to Me.

But those who follow this deathless teaching of dharma as I have declared it, with faith, holding me as supreme — those devotees are exceedingly dear to me.

One to whom blame and praise are equal, who is silent, content with whatever comes, with no fixed abode, steady in mind, and full of devotion — such a person is dear to me.

One equal toward both enemy and friend, and likewise in honour and dishonour; equal in cold and heat, in joy and sorrow; and free from attachment —

One who neither rejoices nor hates, who neither grieves nor yearns, who has relinquished the auspicious and inauspicious alike, and is full of devotion — such a one is dear to me.

One who is without expectation, pure, capable, impartial, free from distress, and who has given up all personal enterprises — such a devotee of mine is dear to me.

One from whom the world does not shrink and who does not shrink from the world, and who is free of elation, jealousy, fear, and agitation — such a one is dear to me.

Ever content, a true yogi, self-restrained, of firm resolve, with mind and understanding dedicated to me — the devotee who is such is dear to me.

Swiftly he becomes a righteous soul and attains abiding peace; O son of Kuntī, declare with certainty that My devotee is never lost.

You are my father, you are my mother, you are my kinsman, and you are my divinity. Salutations to the Guru who awakens the soul to the true nature of this world.

Those who have climbed the tree of worldly existence fall into the ocean of torment. Salutations to the Guru who draws them all back up and delivers them from that fate.

Know for certain that my devotee will never perish.

A true devotee always says, 'Lord, you're the one who does everything. I'm just a tool in your hands.'

God sees the inner love of a devotee and accepts his offering.

One who is a devotee of God must possess an unwavering understanding, unshakeable under any circumstances, much like the anvil in a blacksmith's workshop, which, despite being constantly struck by the hammer, remains unshaken.

Upon attaining that love, the devotee sees everything as full of spirit and consciousness. They understand that Krishna, his abode, and the devotee themselves are all consciousness; everything is consciousness.

If the devotee practices spiritual discipline to some extent, the guru clarifies everything for them. The disciple then understands the reality and unreality of things. Only God is real; the world is an illusion.

Any of you who does not surrender everything you have cannot be my disciple.
