Universal Brotherhood

There cannot be a number of religions in the realm of spirituality. Instead, there is only one religion, the religion of humanity. Religion means only to realise God and then love each and every human being. There may be many sects, but religion remains one.

If I am lifted up on the cross, I will draw all people to myself.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace and goodwill towards all people.

It cannot be possible to make a garland of mankind without the thread of God. Once we are in alliance with God, all these diversities stand converted into unity.

In truth there is only one religion. On the path of spirituality there can be no different religions; rather there is only one religion, and that is the religion of humanity, the religion of man. To know God and to love every human being — that alone is religion. Sects may be many, but religion is one. Mankind is of one caste, the human caste; and man has one religion, the religion of humanity.

When there is light of God-knowledge, we realise the truth that no human being is a stranger, nobody is high and nobody is low. Thereafter, man treats everybody as an image of God. He devotes himself to the service of all. He loves all. All kinds of hatred and jealousy are gone.

Religion (Dharma) means to acquire - to acquire the truth. One who acquires the truth, who is broadminded and who loves all human beings created by God, is the man of religion.

This Supreme Power is One. The same is called Allah, the same is called Ram, the same is called Waheguru. Once reality is known, all distinction is erased, and there remains no quarrel in the name of God. Religion is only one: humanity itself is religion.

Saints speak of love, humanity and universal brotherhood. They preach equality only, saying that all human beings are the creation of the same God.

If one part of the body gets pain, the pain is not confined to that part; the entire body feels it. One part of the body cannot think of harming the other. The same becomes true of mankind, when they are unified through their relationship with God.

When a child is born there is no mark upon it to declare that it belongs to a certain religion or caste. Yes, birds and beasts may have species — our eyes can recognise that this is a cow, a goat, a camel or an elephant — but the identity of a human being is only human. For this reason man is held to be great. In every human being dwells this one Light, the divine essence. Therefore, having attained a human birth, one should also perform deeds worthy of a human being.

Since we are born to human beings, we must love the mankind. Once we have loved humanity, we have loved God.

If we want to please God, we will have to love its creation, the mankind, irrespective of the fact that they may speak any language, belong to any state, have any dress, or come from any country or part of the world.

When we want to please a mother, win her heart or make a place for ourselves in her mind, we are required to love her child. Similarly, if we want to please God, we will have to love all.

It will be possible to please the Almighty only when we consider the entire humanity as our own. We can win its pleasure only by uplifting the downtrodden, by healing their wounds.

Devotion to God can be perfect only when man behaves like man, when he realises that he himself is not superior and none else is inferior, when he appreciates that his own caste is not high and no other caste is low.

Death follows birth for all people. This is a certainty.

All people are made unhappy by their pursuits, whether they are good or bad.

A virtuous person, after acquiring a kingdom, should make all people their own by using gifts, strength, and kind words.

All people have the right to enjoy a part of the merits earned by their children.
