Hatred

If God enters one's life, the feelings of hatred, jealousy and pride disappear and then all the material progress of the world becomes a source of joy. Nobody appears to be an enemy, nobody remains a stranger.

Taking refuge in ego, force, arrogance, desire, and anger — malicious and envious, they despise Me dwelling in their own bodies and in others.

How can a person be a great religious man, if he causes suffering to others, hates them and feels jealous? It is very essential that in the first instance we should imbibe goodness and humanity. Without this, nobody is religious, nobody is good.

The man who considers himself to be humble is in fact the highest of all. He has no ego, because ego brings hatred for all.

Love is the gateway to devotion and the eternal bliss. Those who have hatred in mind, who have ego, can never find this gateway.

Wherever we associate this One God, our problems are solved, our difficulties are over. Our petty feelings, jealousy and hatred vanish.

When the unseen One is beheld in every heart, the distinction of caste and creed no longer remains. Where there is no hatred, there is no violence; and where hatred is gone, only love remains, and where there is love, there is peace.

When man is integrated with God, hatred and jealousy will go from his mind. If he does not know God, he will consider other human beings as strangers, inferior and treat them as untouchables. So long as he carries these feelings, his mind will be full of hatred, anger and pride.

Those who have faith in the divine masters do not spread the flames of hatred; they only extinguish the same. They are men of peace. They do not follow the path of the downfall of others, but march on the path of the uplift of others.

The opposite of love is hatred. The more hatred enters the mind, the further a person moves from love. The more we spurn human beings, the further we move from the Lord's court.

To embrace everyone and to belong to everyone is the message of Holi. If we wish to truly celebrate Holi, we must cast out from our hearts the feelings of duality and malice. We must colour all of humanity in the colour of love and make this earth worth living in.

Saints and great souls always give only love. However much the world may hate, we must not abandon our path of love. The one who has love within will share only love, and the one who has hatred within will share only hatred. Even if someone strikes the sandalwood tree with an axe, the sandalwood gives only its fragrance, for it is the very nature of sandalwood to give fragrance. In the same way, you saints and great souls must, in order to end enmity and opposition in the world, live a life of love and affection and show it by example.

For the growth of life, renouncing pride is absolutely essential. Pride gives birth to hatred and brings love to an end. Happiness lies in love alone; in hatred and malice there is nothing but sorrow upon sorrow.

Have you ever seen peace within hatred and enmity? In hatred and enmity there is never any peace.

Hatred is an antidote to the feeling of love. As hatred rises in the mind, man moves farther and farther from love. As we go on discarding human beings, we render ourselves away from the kingdom of God.

When a person embraces another, putting aside all discrimination, joy and goodwill arise in the heart. In the same way, when we realize the truth, the feelings of hatred, malice and enmity toward one another depart from our hearts, and we embrace one another.

Just as a face turned away from the sun falls into shadow, and a face turned toward the sun grows bright, so too, when the face of the mind stays joined to truth its radiance keeps increasing; but if it turns its back on truth, this life becomes shrouded in darkness, and then the mind fills with impurities, hatred, malice and revulsion.

What is the state of our hearts today? If there is fire, rancour and hatred in our minds, this very thing is hell. If Truth dwells in this mind, if the words of the great souls have made a home in it, then this very thing becomes paradise.

We have heard much outcry about pollution. Pollution is harmful to the body, and we give it much attention; we must indeed be alert to it. But far more harmful than this is mental poison — the poison in the form of hatred and ill-will that fills our minds. This is the more harmful. Removing this poison, may a beautiful fragrance of love be established — this is the prayer.

One who gives us such teaching, and becomes our support to walk on this path, him alone we call religious. On the contrary, one who incites putting cracks between human beings, creating feelings of hatred and enmity in one heart towards another, and provoking violence, how can we deem him religious? Religion is such an instrument as ends distances. If a thinking contrary to this is being given to us, then surely that is not religion.
