The Guru Gita (Song of the Guru) is a 182-verse scripture from the Uttara Khanda of the Skanda Purana, presented as a dialogue in which Parvati asks Shiva to reveal the nature and glory of the Guru. Shiva teaches the guru-disciple relationship and the identity of Guru and Brahman.

Same theme, different voices
A true devotee says, 'O God, you alone are the doer; you alone do everything.
Whoever performs their duty honestly and sincerely is a 'Karam Yogi', a true devotee.
Listening to His Name destroys suffering and sin, and the devotee acquires the qualities of generosity, contentment, and knowledge.
He who does not renounce everything he possesses with his will cannot be my disciple.
He should be wise yet innocent; strong yet kind-hearted; one who shares what little he has: only such a person can be a true devotee.
