Heart

Having thus acquired the rare gift of Devotion the sage prepared a funeral pile and discarding all attachment from his heart ascended it.

Bhakti is the path to salvation. Souls achieve salvation through God's grace.

Avidya is a form of Prakriti that obscures the spiritual powers of the individual soul, forming a veil that hides the Supreme from the individual's vision.

The natural bliss of the soul is revealed when it achieves salvation.

As vast as this outer space is, so vast is the space within the heart. Both heaven and earth are contained in it, both fire and air, both sun and moon, lightning and the stars; whatever one has here and whatever one has not — all that is contained within it.

Containing all actions, all desires, all fragrances, all tastes, embracing all this, without speech and without concern — this is my Self within the heart; this is Brahman. Into him I shall merge on departing from here. He who holds this with certainty has indeed no doubt. Thus spoke Shandilya — yes, Shandilya.

This is my Self within the heart, smaller than a grain of rice, than a barley-corn, than a mustard seed, than a grain of millet, than the kernel of a grain of millet. This is my Self within the heart, greater than the earth, greater than the mid-region, greater than heaven, greater than all these worlds.

That Self abides in the heart. Its very etymology is this: 'it is in the heart' (hridi ayam), and so it is called hridayam (the heart). One who knows this goes day by day to the heavenly world.

If they should say to him, 'In this city of Brahman there is this small lotus dwelling and the small space within it — what is there in it that should be sought, that one should desire to know?' — he should reply:

Now, in this city of Brahman (the body) there is a small lotus-shaped dwelling, and within it a small inner space. What is within that space should be sought; that indeed one should desire to know.

He is completely emancipated who does not covet others' belongings, never disregards anyone, transcends all dualities, and has a soul free from attachment.

The soul is eternal, indestructible, and present in every creature. It is the cause of the mind.

The god smiled and said, 'You practice the most severe austerities! I know this about you. The goal you have in your heart, the one you are striving for, will be achieved. Everything can be attained through penance. Everything is based on penance.

The person who possesses such a soul can never be defeated by sorrow or pain. They are as pure as the gods, high-minded, and wise, with no secrets hidden from them.

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength.

In this way, gradually and quickly, divine calm and peace will be infused into your soul, along with a wonderful and sublime knowledge of God, wrapped in divine love.

Whoever wants to possess or seek something for themselves will lose it, but whoever loses their soul for my sake will gain it.

When the soul completely frees itself from everything that goes against God's will and conforms to it, it is transformed in God through love.

Spirituality is essentially an awakening to the inner reality of our being. It is a connection to the spirit, self, or soul that is beyond our mind, life, and body. This awakening involves an inner aspiration to know, feel, and become one with this greater reality.

The Lord dwells in the hearts of all beings.
