Human Birth

We have been given this human life to understand the all-pervading, omnipresent God. This knowledge can only be given by someone who has themselves realized God. Life becomes truly happy only after meeting such a God-realized person.

Or else such a one is born into the lineage of wise yogis — yet this kind of birth is far rarer to obtain in this world.

How much more then the holy brāhmaṇas and devout royal sages! Having come into this transient and joyless world, worship Me.

He brought the human body for them — they exclaimed, 'Well done indeed! The human form is truly well made.' He then told them: 'Enter each according to your proper abode.'

In man, this embryo first takes form as the vital seed — that luminous essence gathered from all the limbs, which man carries as his very self within himself. When he pours it into woman, that is this self being born. That is his first birth.

He brought a cow for them — they said, 'This is not sufficient for us.' He brought a horse for them — they said again, 'This too is not enough.'

Indeed, when all the bonds of the heart are broken, even in this human life, the mortal becomes immortal.

The son asks his father, 'What should a wise person do, knowing that human life is short? Please tell me, so I can follow your instructions and acquire virtue.'

I am death, the destroyer of the worlds. I have grown to full stature and am now engaged in destroying human life. Without you, all these warriors will cease to exist.

Since these virtues are worthy of love and respect in themselves, a person can rightly take joy in possessing them and practice them for their inherent value and the blessings they bring to human life.

It can be truly said that what was sensual becomes spiritual, what was animal becomes rational, and the soul journeys from human life to an angelic portion, becoming celestial and divine instead of temporal and human.

Much of what is normal in human life would disappear. In the light of gnosis, the many mental idols, principles, and systems that humanity has created in all areas of the mind and life would no longer be accepted or revered; only the truth would remain.

The divine life has given humanity many universal forces and made human life materially one, but the one using these forces is the small human individual or communal ego, devoid of universal knowledge or movement, lacking the inner sense or power to create true unity in the human world.

Mental intelligence and reasoning alone cannot change the fundamental nature of human life; they can only lead to various forms of mechanization, manipulation, development, and formulation.

The spiritual person hasn't completely withdrawn from human life. Instead, they're driven by a sense of unity with all beings, a strong universal love and compassion, and a desire to use their energy for the good of all creatures, as emphasized in the Gita.

Human life is just one stage in a series of gradual developments, through which the universal Spirit slowly fulfills its purpose, ultimately achieving this through the expansion and ascension of individual soul-consciousness within the body.

A spiritual evolution, where the Being within unfolds from birth to birth, with man as the central instrument, and human life at its highest offers a critical turning point, is the link needed to reconcile life and spirit.

Ultimately, all goals are temporary and pointless, and all accomplishments are unsatisfying or fleeting. Every endeavor, whether successful or failed, amounts to nothing definitive. Any changes made in human life are superficial, and these superficial changes follow each other in a never-ending, futile cycle. The fundamental nature of life remains unchanged forever.

The whole crux and difficulty of human life lies here.

The dissolution of the egoistic construction occurs when the individual opens up to the universe and to God, leading to supreme fulfillment, just as animal life was a prelude to human life.
