Time is more precious than money, and more valuable than anything in the world. It's the greatest treasure, the essence of life. Use time wisely for spiritual growth, and don't waste a single moment.

Swami Sivananda
Swami Sivananda was a 20th-century Indian spiritual master, physician, and prolific author who founded the Divine Life Society in Rishikesh and taught an inclusive, practical spirituality he called the Yoga of Synthesis — integrating karma yoga, jnana yoga, bhakti yoga, and raja yoga into a daily path accessible to everyone.
Born Kuppuswami in 1887 in Tamil Nadu, he trained as a physician and practiced medicine in Malaysia for several years, developing a deep compassion for the suffering of the poor. In 1923 he renounced his career and settled in Rishikesh on the Ganges, where he underwent rigorous spiritual practice under several teachers and was initiated into sannyasa (monastic renunciation). He founded the Divine Life Society in 1936, which became a major center for spiritual education, and the Sivananda Ashram on the banks of the Ganges attracted seekers from across India and the world. He was one of the most prolific spiritual writers in history, authoring over 200 books on virtually every aspect of yoga, Vedanta, meditation, and practical spirituality, many of which remain in print and in use today. His students — including Swami Chidananda, Swami Satchidananda, Swami Vishnu-devananda, and Swami Krishnananda — carried his teachings globally and founded yoga institutions around the world.
