I would be kind to the good and also to those who are not good, in order to help them become better.

I have three valuable principles that I hold dear and cherish. The first is gentleness, the second is simplicity and moderation, and the third is humility, which prevents me from putting myself above others.

There is no greater mistake than giving in to your desires, no greater suffering than being discontent, and no greater disaster than constantly wanting to acquire more.

You can understand the entire universe without leaving your home, and you can see the way of heaven without looking out the window. The more you travel, the less you know. This means that you can gain knowledge, see, and attain your goals without moving, looking, or taking action.

Those who humble themselves will be preserved and protected. Those who are flexible and adaptable will find their path made straight. Those who are empty and open will be filled, and those who are tired and worn out will be renewed.

If you are gentle, you can be bold and confident. If you are frugal and moderate, you can be generous and giving. If you avoid putting yourself above others, you can become a leader and earn their respect.

A person who can defeat others may be strong, but a person who can control and overcome their own desires and weaknesses is truly powerful.
